Gillian Welch - Time The Revelator

Review by Suhari S.Pd

Time The Revelator by Gillian Welch is a stunning album that showcases the singer-songwriter's exceptional talent for crafting poignant and evocative folk music. Released in 2001, the album features 10 tracks that are steeped in American folk tradition, but also explore themes of love, loss, and the passage of time with a unique and modern sensibility.

Welch's haunting vocals are perfectly complemented by her sparse acoustic guitar and the occasional accompaniment of her longtime collaborator, David Rawlings, on guitar and harmonies. The album's standout tracks include the haunting opener "Revelator," the wistful "April the 14th Part 1," and the melancholic "I Dream a Highway," which clocks in at just under 15 minutes and showcases Welch's ability to weave together intricate narratives with ease.

Summary by Suhari S.Pd

Time The Revelator is a timeless album that remains a highlight of Welch's impressive discography. Its stripped-down production and raw emotional power make it a must-listen for any fan of folk music or singer-songwriters who are unafraid to explore the depths of the human experience.

Comments

Old-time and contemporary, simple and deep, unadorned and professional, Appalachia and Berklee School of Music-and achingly beautiful. Each of Welch's first four albums was terrific, but "Time (The Revelator)" has a slight edge because of slightly better songs-such as, "My First Lover," "Red Clay Halo," "I Want to Sing That Rock and Roll," and "Everything is Free."
Great voice
If I ever get married....I would like to dance to this song.

Thanks for .giving
Gillian Welch - Dear Someone
Alguém querido
Eu quero ir para todo o mundo
E começar a viver livre

Estrela estadia, pequeno, constante e brilhante
Para guiar-me longe
Rush, pouco vento, sobre o fundo
Por enquanto eu comecei
Pressa e me levar direto para os braços
Da minha querida alguém
Apresse-se e levar-me para os braços
Da minha querida alguém
Thank you for giving me this song
Well, this is quite lovely!
Not this one
That minor 4th - holy moly!
Dave Rawlings is a frkn genius.
