Comments

Could we encourage more of the younger generation to find guaranteed cures for leukemia, we lost two geniuses in 1950, Lipatti and Rosa Tamarkina. And that was 72 years ago, and still no cure!
An absolute genius.
Even after listening to dozens of interpretations this is the one I keep coming back to. A powerful and expressive interpretation with a lot of musical gravity
조성진이 리파티연주 참고했구나
imagine if he would have lived a long life like rubinstein or horowitz he would be the most well known pianist of europe in the 20th century

BRAVOOOOOOO
When Coc:teau, the French poets writer, film maker was asked : who is the greater composer of all times, ? we would say Bethoven, but what about Mozart ? .... Mozart ? C'est le seul ! (he is the only one) same for Lipatti. You chose whoever you want, but in the end, he is THE only pianist
I think the deep and profound tone from Lipatti's fingers is music that purifies emotions and makes you think about the depth of sound.
The chromatic runs in the begining are perfect. I feel like the sound is so light and the voices are well defined, not mushed.
I grew up with this recording - oh what a pleasure. It was a vinyl record, which on the other side had "Lipatti" playing Chopin's 1st piano concerto - or so it said. It would take me over 20 years to realize the concerto actually was Stefanska's recording. Oh what a story! During all these years, I adored the 3rd piano sonata, but I did never fully take the piano concerto recording to heart ... now I know why.
Just mesmerising....bold tone, wonderful drama of the work expressed through a coherent phrasing and well-balanced dynamic. Perfect intuitive attitude for the Chopin style. Chapeau Maestro Lipatti.
Real ones know.
