CCCP - Torino 1987

Review by Bob Barkey

Torino 1987 by CCCP is a masterpiece of Italian post-punk music. The album is a perfect blend of political commentary, punk aggression, and catchy melodies. The band's signature sound is characterized by the use of unconventional instruments such as saxophones, accordions, and even a typewriter. The album opens with the explosive track "Curami," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. The lyrics are a scathing critique of society and politics, delivered with raw emotion by lead singer Giovanni Lindo Ferretti. Other standout tracks include "Annarella," a haunting ballad that showcases Ferretti's vocal range, and "Madre," a fast-paced punk anthem that will get anyone moshing. The album is not only musically impressive but also politically significant, as it was released during a time of social and political turmoil in Italy. The band's leftist ideology is evident throughout the album, making it a must-listen for anyone interested in Italian punk history. Torino 1987 by CCCP is a timeless classic that still holds up today as a testament to the power of punk music.

In 1990, after the collapse of the Berlin Wall and of the Communist Block, CCCP - Fedeli Alla Linea changed their name into C.S.I. (Consorzio Suonatori Indipendenti), and took a different music direction, more into popular folk and experimental rock. Founding members: Giovanni Lindo Ferretti and Massimo Zamboni.
