The Mysterious Film World Of Bernard Herrmann, performed by the National Philharmonic Orchestra, is an exceptional album that showcases the genius of the legendary composer. The album features some of Herrmann's most iconic works, including the scores from Psycho, Vertigo, and Taxi Driver.

The orchestra's performance is nothing short of stunning, capturing the haunting and suspenseful nature of Herrmann's music. The album takes listeners on a journey through the various moods and emotions that are conveyed in Herrmann's compositions, from the eerie and unsettling to the romantic and nostalgic.

The standout tracks on the album include the iconic theme from Psycho, which is instantly recognizable and has become synonymous with the horror genre. The sweeping score from Vertigo is also a highlight, with its lush strings and haunting melody perfectly capturing the film's themes of obsession and love.

Comments

Love it - what a fantastic fanfare piece of music. Totally illustrates Gulliver.
I have the original Movie Soundtrack LP in my private record collection.
Too slow!
queria assistir o filme todo. Náo de parte em parte. como faço.
I heard this recording before I saw the film, and the slower tempo here has always sounded right to me. I play it at Christmastime because it does have a sound of "winter solstice festivity"!
THIS is the tempo, conducted by Herrmann himself.  Joel McNeely's version (and I'm a fan of his) is, imho, way too fast.  Bernard's baton really puts the majesty into the pomp, and his rural and love themes never sounded better.  Magnificent score, but be sure you get the Composer's own version.
May be Herrmann's most purely conventional composition. Very fine film as well, easily the best "Gulliver' put on screen.
One of my favorite Herrmann scores! It was magical to see this movie as a boy in 1960, and the magic lives on through the music as much as through Harryhausen's special effects. Thanks for posting!
