Badge Époque Ensemble's self-titled album is a masterpiece of retro-inspired jazz and psychedelic rock. This Toronto-based collective features a rotating cast of talented musicians, including members of U.S. Girls, DIANA, and the Cosmic Range, among others.
The album's opening track, "Sing a Silent Gospel," sets the tone with its dreamy, atmospheric soundscapes and haunting vocals. From there, the album takes the listener on a journey through various genres, including funk, soul, and even a bit of disco.
One standout track is "Undressed in Solitude," which features a funky bassline and sultry vocals that evoke a sense of mystery and intrigue. "Just Space for Light" is another highlight, with its jazzy instrumentation and soaring choruses.
